Location: Remote home office in Florida, with the posting referencing Miami, Fort Myers, Tampa, or Orlando and surrounding areas; local, regional, and national travel is required.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year, plus potential nondiscretionary billable-productivity compensation.

What you will do

  • Conduct site inspections to determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural damage from storms, natural disasters, fires, explosions, accidents, defects, and foundation movement.
  • Evaluate failure modes and contributing factors through engineering analysis.
  • Prepare clear, technically supported reports, documentation, and project deliverables.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders while managing expectations and closing information gaps.
  • Own investigations through resolution, working independently from a home office while collaborating with internal experts.
  • Contribute improvements to processes, tools, and customer outcomes.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of forensic engineering experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license in Florida or eligibility through reciprocity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related field, from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce effective engineering reports.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in confined spaces and on roofs, carry ladders, operate required equipment, and travel including occasional overnight trips.

Nice to have

  • Expert witness experience.
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
