Structural Bridge Engineering Designer (Bridge Engineering)

Location: Draper, Utah, United States; hybrid work between office and field environments with onsite responsibilities.

Salary: $75,000–$105,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Perform structural and bridge analysis, engineering calculations, and conceptual engineering studies.
• Design highway and pedestrian bridges, culverts, walls, overhead sign structures, and drainage structures.
• Develop structural and bridge plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and supporting documents.
• Support preliminary engineering and final design efforts under the guidance of experienced structural engineers.
• Coordinate with project managers, colleagues, local governments, and UDOT.
• Work collaboratively on transportation infrastructure projects while building professional design expertise.

Requirements

• 2+ years of civil engineering experience focused on bridge design.
• Demonstrated knowledge of bridge design principles and methodologies.
• Knowledge of concrete and steel design.
• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation and Microsoft Office Suite.
• EIT certification or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe by passing the FE exam.
• Ability to work in office and field environments, including occasional exposure to inclement weather, noise, hazards, and bodies of water.

Nice to have

• Experience with Mathcad, Erickson Culvert, BGS, PGSuper, RISA, LEAP Bridge Suite, or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
