Forensic Structural Engineer, PE (Richmond, VA) (57633)

Location: Fully remote, with the ideal candidate based near Richmond, Virginia and supporting cases in the surrounding area. Site inspections and travel may be required. U.S. Persons only due to ITAR export-control requirements.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Conduct forensic investigations of structural damage, defects, failures, moisture intrusion, premises liability claims, and roof conditions.
• Perform site inspections and collect data to support engineering analysis.
• Apply civil and structural engineering principles to assess structural issues.
• Prepare clear technical reports describing findings and conclusions.
• Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings when required.
• Monitor relevant structural engineering codes, standards, and industry developments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residency, refugee status, or asylum status in the United States.

Nice to have

• Forensic engineering experience.
• Experience providing expert testimony in legal proceedings.
