TL;DR
Junior Economist (Macroeconomics) (GDP, inflation, interest rates): Contributing to global macroeconomic forecasts, economic research, and scenario analysis for a leading reinsurance company with an accent on data-driven monitoring, applied insurance economics, and financial market analysis. Focus on designing economic models, developing stress-test scenarios, reviewing research data, and preparing economic outlook materials for senior stakeholders and clients.

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia; hybrid work with an expectation to be present in the Bratislava office at least 50% of working time

Salary: €1,900–€3,200 per month for a full-time role in Slovakia, plus performance-based variable compensation

What you will do

  • Assess GDP, inflation, fiscal and central bank policy, interest rates, financial markets, geopolitical developments, and structural macroeconomic themes.
  • Support macroeconomic risk and scenario analysis and develop data-driven monitoring tools for global macroeconomic house views.
  • Design and improve models for macroeconomic and financial market analysis.
  • Coordinate economic inputs for capital planning, financial plans, discount-rate estimations, stress tests, and other business analyses.
  • Conduct literature and data reviews and contribute to hirify.global Institute research and thought-leadership reports.
  • Prepare presentations and background notes for senior management and external client outreach.

Requirements

  • University degree in Economics or Finance, ideally at Master’s level.
  • Some prior experience in economic research, investment management, or a related area is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong analytical, communication, data visualization, teamwork, and stakeholder interaction skills.
  • Very agile, flexible, adaptable, proactive, autonomous, and able to work under tight timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Econometric and programming skills in R, Stata, Matlab, or Python.
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Macrobond, IMF databases, or other economic and financial market data platforms.
  • German language skills.
  • Interest in insurance, reinsurance, and the impact of economic themes on the sector.
