Apprentice Workshop SA

Company

JLG, an Oshkosh company, develops and supports access equipment including mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, utility vehicles, and lighting towers.

What you will do

• Assist workshop technicians with servicing, repairs, and maintenance of customer and company-owned equipment.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections and assess machines for safe, compliant operation.
• Assist with installing, testing, repairing, and modifying electronic and hydraulic equipment.
• Support scheduled three-monthly and annual machine inspections in line with JLG and Australian industry standards.
• Complete job notes, inspection forms, and other documentation required by ANZ standards, customers, and sites.
• Perform workshop support duties including cleaning, sanding, painting, and general trade assistance.

Requirements

• Commitment to a four-year apprenticeship combining on-the-job training with block theory and practical training through a registered training organization.
• Willingness to work toward a Certificate III in Elevating Work Platforms or Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.
• Effective written and verbal communication, good listening skills, and the ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills, including reading safety information and machine manuals.
• Mature, reliable, and able to complete job notes and understand basic time, parts-number, and quantity information.

Nice to have

• Mechanical interest or previous experience with mechanics, electrics, or hydraulics, such as working on cars or motorbikes.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements.
