Technician Associate–Technician (Electrical Engineering Technology)

Location: Lynchburg, Virginia, United States; the selected candidate must reside within 45 minutes of the Lynchburg Service Center.

Salary: $31.72–$36.41 per hour.

What you will do

• Support the planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of utility equipment and facilities.
• Apply technical knowledge to resolve routine and intermediate-level problems and improve work processes.
• Plan assignments, prioritize routine work, maintain accurate records, and prepare technical reports and papers.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers and seek guidance from higher-level employees as needed.
• Patrol distribution power lines, determine damage, and support surveying and field activities in varied terrain.

Requirements

• Must reside within 45 minutes of the Lynchburg Service Center in Lynchburg, Virginia.
• For the Technician Associate level: a high school diploma or equivalent plus two years of related utility industry experience, or an associate degree in electrical, electronic, civil, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
• For the Technician level: an associate degree in a related engineering technology field plus two years of utility industry experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent plus four years of related utility industry experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to walk various terrain in adverse conditions and handle measuring and switching sticks weighing approximately 11 pounds.
• Some assignments may require clearing brush with a brush axe or machete.
