TL;DR
Solar Technician I (Solar PV Operations and Maintenance): Maintaining and operating utility-scale solar PV sites, substations, inverters, trackers, and electrical collection systems with an accent on preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance. Focus on electrical troubleshooting, switching and clearance orders, power plant operations, and safe work around energized equipment.
Location: US, Charles City County, Virginia; daily commuting to the Keydet site is required.
Salary: $26.00–$31.03 per hour, plus an annual bonus.

What you will do
- Perform and assist with preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance at solar PV sites and substations.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, calibrate instrumentation, and perform basic inverter troubleshooting.
- Maintain and operate inverters, trackers, combiner boxes, PV modules, and DC and AC collection and distribution systems.
- Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders and operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
- Prepare plant orders, procedures, operating instructions, maintenance records, and other technical documentation.
- Support vegetation management and other site activities while following environmental and safety requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with electrical systems and basic safety principles, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety.
- Technical proficiency with standard business software; SCADA and computerized maintenance management system experience is recommended.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to work independently or in crews and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to commute daily to the Charles City County, Virginia site and work onsite.
Nice to have
- Technical degree or solar certification.
- Solar system installation experience.
- Basic electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory.
