Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Molding) (Injection Molding)

Location: East Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Mixed office, laboratory, and manufacturing environment with hands-on production-floor work and estimated 10% domestic and international travel to vendor or customer sites.

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day engineering support for injection molding processes, improving yield, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Troubleshoot molding defects, process equipment, materials, and production issues; define corrective actions and support on-time delivery.
• Lead mold, fixture, gauge, and other production tooling design, modification, validation, maintenance, repairs, and changeovers.
• Apply statistical process control, investigate process deviations, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide design-for-manufacturability guidance and support new product development, qualification, and transition into production.
• Coordinate validation, CAPEX, engineering change, and production improvement projects with internal teams, customers, vendors, toolmakers, and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an associate degree in plastics or manufacturing engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with injection molding and plastics processing.
• Experience with mold design, tooling specifications, process optimization, SPC, process validation, and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability, GMP documentation, regulatory requirements, CAPEX project management, SAP, and tooling or equipment justification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with strong technical writing, communication, presentation, project coordination, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and typical injection-molding facility noise.

Nice to have

• Experience with mold flow analysis and process simulation software.
• Experience working with domestic and overseas tooling sources.
