Salary: $69,900–$144,900 per year, depending on level, skills, experience, and internal pay equity.

What you will do

  • Provide engineering support to real-time operations through near-term, next-day, and current-day power-system analysis.
  • Use power-flow, transient-stability, voltage-stability, and steady-state analysis tools, including PSSE and OSI Energy Management System analyst tools.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot EMS network-analysis tools, including state-estimator performance and solution availability.
  • Maintain network topology, equipment databases, study cases, contingency lists, and transmission ratings.
  • Evaluate outages, develop operating limits, identify constraint-management options, and support system-operator decisions during emergencies.
  • Coordinate system changes, operating plans, equipment ratings, compliance activities, and technical information with internal teams, MISO, NERC, neighboring transmission operators, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering, engineering technology, mathematics, or physics.
  • Ability to work a 24/7 rotating schedule, including 12-hour weekend shifts, 8-hour weekday shifts, and holidays.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to obtain NERC Certification within the department-defined timeframe.
  • Understanding or experience with electric power systems, operational planning analysis, network modeling, operating plans, and Bulk Electric System outages.
  • Strong planning, organizational, verbal, written communication, and emergency-response skills.

Nice to have

  • NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification.
  • PMP Certification or knowledge of project-management principles.
  • Electric utility industry experience and knowledge of the NIPSCO transmission system.
  • Knowledge of electric substation equipment, operations, and the electric wholesale power market.
