TL;DR
Environmental Project Permitting Specialist (Oil & Gas Infrastructure): Supporting environmental permitting and regulatory compliance for natural gas, refined-products, and CO₂ pipeline maintenance, repair, integrity, and construction projects with an accent on permit applications, agency coordination, environmental field evaluations, and mitigation measures. Focus on managing consultants, budgets, schedules, and compliance requirements across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.

Location: Hybrid in Birmingham, Alabama; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lakewood, Colorado; or Houston, Texas. In-office Monday through Wednesday and remote Thursday and Friday. Occasional travel throughout the United States and project-site work are required.

Salary: USD $85,100–$152,700 per year.

What you will do

  • Support environmental permitting and regulatory compliance for natural gas, refined-products, and CO₂ pipeline projects.
  • Coordinate regulatory reviews, environmental field surveys, agency communications, permit submissions, and mitigation measures.
  • Work with project managers, engineers, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholder groups.
  • Manage permitting consultants, including bids, work directives, budgets, schedules, deliverables, and invoices.
  • Provide environmental and regulatory guidance to reduce project costs, risks, and schedule delays.
  • Attend field meetings, site visits, and bid walks while supporting safe and compliant project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in environmental permitting, environmental consulting, or a related field.
  • Experience with federal environmental laws and permitting requirements, including NEPA, ESA, NHPA, CWA, MBTA, and FERC processes.
  • Experience supporting environmental permitting projects across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, traverse rugged terrain, travel to project sites, and work independently in remote areas.

Nice to have

  • Experience obtaining permits for oil and gas infrastructure, petroleum-product pipelines, facilities, or terminals.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline operations and related construction and maintenance activities.
