Lead Relay Technician

Location: Dallas, Texas; candidates near other hirify.global offices may also be considered. Current US work eligibility and a valid USA driver's license are required.

Salary: USD $61.00–$84.00 per hour, with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Plan, coordinate, perform, and document commissioning activities for utility substation protection, control, and power circuits.
• Review wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents, and project specifications before projects and outages.
• Troubleshoot protection and control systems, substation equipment, wiring, settings, apparatus test results, and battery ground faults.
• Develop testing, commissioning, energization, and site risk assessment plans.
• Prepare daily, weekly, completion, and detailed electrical equipment test reports, including results, issues, recommendations, and analyses.
• Participate in project kickoff, planning, progress, and lessons-learned meetings with clients and project teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in testing and commissioning services; electric utility experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand construction and manufacturer drawings, specifications, schematic diagrams, and one-line and three-line interconnection diagrams.
• Knowledge of electrical protection systems and relay communication, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Experience with, or ability to learn, medium- and high-voltage substation and power plant equipment, protection and control circuits, and commissioning methods.
• Current US work eligibility and a valid USA driver's license issued by the state of residence are required.
• Availability for out-of-town travel for up to several weeks, flexible hours, weekends, overtime, holidays, and night work is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Doble Protection Suite, ProTest, SEL AcSELerator, or Enoserv RTS.
• Experience commissioning complex commercial or industrial equipment or working as a power systems field engineer with relay knowledge.
