Operations Shift Engineer - 24x7 Shift (Network Operations)

Location: Fully onsite in Chippenham, United Kingdom, with no home working; 24x7 shift rotation.

What you will do

• Maintain and support a secure global IP data network, ensuring availability, performance, and resilience.
• Resolve technical and service issues, coordinate with internal teams, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Provide second-line incident support, including prioritisation, diagnostics, and escalation of complex faults.
• Produce operational and performance reports aligned with service availability targets.
• Deliver 24/7 Service Operations activities and maintain operational, contractual, and security documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements, support-system refinement, and the adoption of new network technologies.

Requirements

• British passport only; dual passport holders are ineligible for DV-level Government Security Clearance.
• Eligibility for Government Security Clearance to DV level.
• CCNA-level technical proficiency or equivalent, with experience configuring and operating Cisco routers.
• Experience with DDI platforms covering DNS, DHCP, and IPAM.
• Experience with Palo Alto and Nokia firewall technologies, plus WAN optimisation technologies and devices.
• Ability to work on a 24x7 onsite shift rotation and maintain compliance with security, regulatory, and safety policies.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of IP data networks, WAN technologies, protocols, and firewall principles.
• Experience with cryptographic network devices.
• Working knowledge of the ITIL framework.
• Ability to manage workload independently and deliver against agreed targets.
