L2 Support Engineer (Linux)

Location: Bath, United Kingdom; hybrid work model with a 4-on-4-off daylight shift pattern

Salary: £35,000 annual base compensation plus a 15% annual shift allowance

What you will do

• Monitor live customer SDS software and virtualized store infrastructure, troubleshoot incidents, and escalate complex issues.
• Provide technical IT support through email, phone, and online chat while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Manage Windows and Linux server operating systems, including patching and software updates.
• Assist customers and partners with SDS software deployments and complete scheduled IT maintenance tasks.
• Manage corporate desktops and laptops, including onboarding, account creation, and user orientation.
• Support new products and technologies while maintaining knowledge of the product portfolio and competitors.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in an IT operational support role working with Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
• Experience in a customer-facing technical support role with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to learn and apply new technologies.
• Ability to work in the hybrid Bath-based 24x7 shift pattern: four days on and four days off during daylight hours.

Nice to have

• Experience with Nagios, CheckMK, Apache, CouchDB, Kubernetes, or Docker.
• Knowledge of AI technologies, Microsoft Copilot, GCP, or AWS.
• Experience with resilient and redundant file systems such as ZFS, DRBD, Btrfs, LVM, RAID, Ceph, or clustering solutions.
• Shell scripting experience with Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, or PowerShell.
