TechLead, Software Development (Java)

Location: Hybrid, based in the downtown Toronto office with 3 days per week onsite; collaboration takes place during regular business hours.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, mentor, hire, and support the professional development of software developers.
• Contribute hands-on to technical design, coding, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
• Own technical delivery, team health, risks, backlog quality, and continuous improvements in productivity and quality.
• Apply AI tools across analysis, development, code review, testing, and documentation while preserving SDLC quality controls.
• For the R&D track, lead feature specifications, product enhancements, roadmap priorities, and release commitments.
• For the Professional Services track, translate client requirements into technically sound delivery plans aligned with platform architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years of development experience and 2+ years of team lead experience.
• 5+ years working with cloud-native or API-centric applications.
• Strong object-oriented programming experience and strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Experience with Java, SQL Server, Vue.js, Angular, JSF, RESTful APIs, microservices, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Spring Boot, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with testing, ORMs, database profiling and tuning, data pipelines, and application vulnerability remediation.

Nice to have

• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Financial services or wealth management experience.
• Experience migrating monoliths to microservice or cloud-centric architectures.
• .NET, C#, and Angular experience.
