Ground Survey Technician / UAS Ground Support Technician (Utility Infrastructure)

Location: Field-based across areas under client ownership or assigned work scope in the United States; frequent travel, overnight stays, long hours, all-weather work, and potential storm-response callouts are required.

What you will do

• Collect field data from distribution and transmission power lines, poles, conductors, framing, attachments, hardware, and related equipment.
• Perform ground-based utility pole and conductor inspections, including hammer sounding of wood poles and documentation of visible damage or condition issues.
• Capture photographs and field information using tablets, cameras, GPS-enabled devices, measuring tools, multimeters, communication sticks, and other equipment.
• Operate handheld or ground-based LiDAR systems and support UAS crews with logistics, equipment handling, battery management, and visual support.
• Review field data for completeness and accuracy, then organize, label, transfer, and upload deliverables according to company and client workflows.
• Maintain field productivity, quality control, quality assurance, safety, and compliance with client standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license maintained throughout employment and willingness to travel frequently and stay overnight as required.
• Ability to work outdoors for several hours at a time, including long hours and all weather conditions.
• Proficiency with tablets, laptops, Microsoft Excel and Word, mobile applications, field data collection programs, cameras, and digital field tools.
• Ability to identify and document pole components, framing, utility equipment conditions, and conductor observations with strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication, ethical conduct, independent and collaborative work skills, and ability to complete required company and client training.

Nice to have

• Experience in utility inspection, field data collection, surveying, construction, vegetation management, UAS support, or related outdoor technical work.
