What you will do
- Collect and process land survey data using GPS, robotic total stations, UAV/UAS, 3D laser scanners, LiDAR, photogrammetry, and 360-degree cameras.
- Analyze property boundaries, rights-of-way, survey control, monuments, easements, and Public Land Survey System records.
- Prepare legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, final plats, records of survey, maps, and exhibits using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Establish parcels, lots, roads, subdivisions, and easements while processing documents through municipal agencies.
- Prepare GIS datasets, including shapefiles and Esri file geodatabases, for agency use.
- Coordinate with design, civil engineering, water resources, and field teams across simultaneous projects.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Geographic Information Systems or BS in Land Surveying, plus at least six years of experience; alternatively, ten years of equivalent work experience.
- California Professional Land Surveyor registration or the ability to obtain California PLS registration within one year of hire.
- Advanced understanding of boundary principles, land management, geometry, trigonometry, units, coordinate systems, map projections, datums, and coordinate transformations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including preparation of legal descriptions, ALTA/NSPS surveys, final plats, and records of survey.
- Experience with California municipal agencies, public records, GIS teams, GIS datasets, and GIS web applications.
- Ability to read construction drawings, work independently, maintain accuracy, and collaborate across multiple projects.
