Director Major Projects (Transmission Infrastructure)

Location: Roanoke, VA, United States; work may require travel of up to 50% or more for specific assignments and living at the project location during certain execution phases.

Salary: $188,524–$245,080 annually, plus annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end execution of major high-voltage transmission projects with budgets ranging from $1 billion to $10 billion.
• Direct cross-functional teams, employees, consultants, contractors, EPC partners, and joint-venture stakeholders.
• Manage project safety, integrated schedules, capital budgets, forecasts, change management, and executive risk registers.
• Develop commercial contracting strategies and negotiate contractor, EPC, engineering, and joint-venture agreements.
• Lead regulatory strategy and filings, including project hearings and approvals for Certificates of Convenience and Necessity.
• Maintain relationships with utilities, RTOs, regulators, landowners, contractors, customers, and executive leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of qualified experience with major construction projects, project management, portfolio management, commissioning, project controls, power generation, or contract negotiations.
• Progressive responsibility, strong business acumen, effective leadership, strategic planning, conflict management, delegation, and decision-making skills.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Ability to work at offices, power plants, and construction sites, with travel and potential residence at the project location during execution.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in business, engineering, project management, accounting, finance, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience with 345–765 kV transmission, underground, HVDC, or submarine projects.
• Experience with RTOs such as PJM, MISO, SPP, or ERCOT and state utility commissions.
• Experience with environmental applications including USACE, USFWS, and NEPA.
• Direct supervision and executive communication experience.
