Designer III (Aerospace and Defense)

Location: Sparks, Nevada, United States; office or hybrid environment required. Occasional travel may be required.

What you will do

• Lead detailed designs, technical drawings, layouts, and 3D models for complex aerospace and defense projects.
• Review designs for accuracy, standards compliance, regulatory requirements, and safety.
• Identify and resolve design errors, omissions, and deficiencies while improving design processes.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to meet project specifications and budget constraints.
• Prepare documentation and reports for design reviews and project milestones.
• Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Design, Drafting, or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 6+ years of design or drafting experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
• Knowledge of design principles, drafting standards, engineering practices, regulatory requirements, and Computer-Aided Engineering tools.
• Experience with technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, or publications and multidisciplinary development teams.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Advanced CAD tools and techniques, project management software, and full lifecycle or agile design experience.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
