Process Engineer I (Molding)

What you will do

• Develop and modify injection molding process parameters for plastic components.
• Design and perform process DoEs to improve molding processes for specific components.
• Redesign components and systems to improve long-term manufacturing reliability and manufacturability.
• Coordinate with tooling engineers and Manufacturing to produce components and samples meeting specifications.
• Investigate customer complaints through root cause analysis and implement resolutions requiring engineering support.
• Create and maintain BOMs, engineering masters, QC inspection procedures, test fixtures, and controlled ISO documentation.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, preferably Plastics or Mechanical Engineering; a Plastics Engineering degree may substitute for the experience requirement.
• At least three years of experience in production support or product design, primarily involving injection-molded parts and assemblies.
• Experience or knowledge with Lean and Six Sigma tools.
• Fluency in 3D modeling of parts and assemblies.
• Strong understanding of scientific injection molding and tool design as related to design for manufacturability.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment involving sitting, standing, and reaching, and to lift up to 40 pounds.

Nice to have

• Green or Black Belt certification.
• Familiarity with Engel or Sumitomo injection molding machines.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to present ideas to senior management.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under deadlines.
