Intern Electric Engineering NIPSCO (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Gary, Indiana; in-person at the reporting location. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Gary, IN.

Salary: $18.80–$31.70 per hour

What you will do

• Support Electric Major Projects teams with project managers, assistant project managers, and project specialists.
• Assist with permits, job orders, materials procurement and tracking, invoice processing, and project close-out packets.
• Support planning, estimating, scheduling, risk analysis, project documentation, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Gather content and develop instructor-led and computer-based compliance training modules.
• Support NERC, CIP Compliance, Operations Technology, and Training systems and software.
• Participate in professional development, team-building activities, and emergency response support when required.

Requirements

• Current student pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology at an accredited college or university.
• At least one year of undergraduate study completed and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week in person during the 12-week summer program starting in May 2027.
• Proficiency with PC applications; strong Microsoft Excel and Access skills are preferred.
• Strong written, oral, planning, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future, and must have a valid in-state driver's license upon hire.
