Principal Engineer - Controls

Salary: $91,500–$148,100 per year across U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Lead the exploration and application of technologies, systems, and methods for vehicle control strategies.
• Develop, verify, validate, test, and implement control systems for engine, hybrid, electric, autonomous, on-road, and off-road vehicles.
• Create control strategies in virtual simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments using modeling tools, then transfer them to vehicle testing and production.
• Define project requirements, resources, equipment, estimates, test plans, schedules, and milestones.
• Prepare engineering plans, designs, calculations, methodologies, reports, feasibility studies, and funding proposals.
• Collaborate with software engineering, internal and external engineering teams, suppliers, universities, and industry organizations while mentoring entry-level engineers.

Requirements

• Accredited bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of related engineering experience.
• Experience with vehicle control systems, preferably in automotive or heavy-duty vehicles.
• Experience with automotive or heavy-duty vehicle CAN bus and architecture.
• Experience with MathWorks, dSPACE, or Vector tools and AUTOSAR.
• Ability to perform complex engineering analysis, make significant technical decisions, and act as a lead worker.

Nice to have

• Eight or more years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or an advanced degree with relevant experience.
• Embedded software development experience using C, C++, C#, or Python.
