Preconstruction Manager

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States; primarily office-based with necessary jobsite visits and required safety equipment.

Salary: $100,000–$145,000 per year, with compensation varying by city and state.

What you will do

• Provide preconstruction estimating services from initial program intent through construction document pricing.
• Develop feasibility studies, conceptual-to-bid budgets, comparative studies, and value engineering proposals.
• Estimate projects across a variety of building types while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Present technical and financial information, including changes to previous estimates, to internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with developers, architects, subcontractors, and operations during design-assist services and represent HITT in design meetings.
• Oversee Assistant Preconstruction Managers or Assistant Estimators and make decisions under tight deadlines or with incomplete information.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Five to seven years of related experience, including at least two years in estimating.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications, identify missing elements, analyze technical information, and understand geotechnical reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, business judgment, partnership-building, and risk analysis skills.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, plus experience with On Screen Take-off and Adobe products including Bluebeam.
• Ability to work primarily in an office and visit jobsites as needed, wearing required safety equipment.
