Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Clinton, South Carolina, USA. Full-time office-based role with an estimated 20%–30% travel requirement.

What you will do

• Analyze supplier quality metrics, identify systemic issues, and drive corrective and preventive actions across the supply base.
• Plan and lead supplier audits, assessments, surveillance activities, and internal quality system audits.
• Manage supplier qualification, onboarding, performance improvement roadmaps, and corrective action programs, including SCAR closure and effectiveness verification.
• Resolve complex quality issues through 8D, DMAIC, A3, and Five Why investigations, including containment and disposition of nonconforming materials.
• Develop inspection plans, control plans, sampling methods, supplier quality requirements, and process improvements involving tooling, automation, metrology, and training.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Development, and suppliers on NPI, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, process validation, and supplier risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 7–10 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing Quality.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems, including internal and supplier audits.
• Experience with supplier development, corrective actions, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem solving.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes such as metal forming, welding, machining, coating, assembly, and hardware installation.
• Strong analytical, communication, project management, leadership, and supplier development skills; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems and quality software.

Nice to have

• ASQ CQE, CSQP, or Lead Auditor certification.
• Knowledge of IPC standards, PCBA manufacturing, and testing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, CMM reports, and automated inspection data.
