UAS Pilot

Location: Field-based role with frequent travel and overnight stays at transmission and distribution project sites across the U.S.

What you will do

• Plan UAS flights by reviewing project requirements, assessing weather and hazards, and developing safe flight plans.
• Operate unmanned aerial systems near transmission and distribution poles, power lines, structures, and personnel.
• Capture visual, thermal, photogrammetry, and LiDAR data using aerial sensors and handheld ground cameras.
• Inspect poles and related equipment for damage, wear, and maintenance or repair needs.
• Prepare findings and collaborate with design, engineering, mapping, permitting, construction, and maintenance teams.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of UAS batteries, propellers, cameras, sensors, and other equipment.

Requirements

• Experience operating UAS for field data collection and inspection work.
• Ability to collect accurate data on distribution poles, attachments, conductor sizes, and related equipment.
• Knowledge of UAS safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to travel frequently and stay overnight at project sites.

Nice to have

• Ground Penetrating Radar training or utility locating experience.
• Thermography Level 1 certification or interest in pursuing certification for infrared analysis and condition assessments.
