Procurement Lead, Direct Materials (Biotech)

Location: Piscataway, New Jersey, United States; 4 days onsite with remote flexibility on Fridays

Salary: $100,000–$110,000 per year, based on experience.

What you will do

• Supervise the direct procurement team and manage daily operations against SLA, KPI, and performance targets.
• Oversee replenishment planning for critical materials and Green Channel items to maintain inventory and supply continuity.
• Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of direct materials, consumables, raw materials, and packaging materials used in production.
• Develop alternative suppliers, manage vendor relationships, conduct business reviews, and negotiate pricing contracts and Master Supply Agreements.
• Drive category management, vendor consolidation, alternative-material initiatives, cost reduction, and cost avoidance reporting.
• Partner with production, quality, finance, legal, and other functions to maintain compliance, resolve critical issues, and support audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, supply chain management, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or direct-materials planning, preferably in biotech or pharmaceuticals.
• Previous people-management or project-management experience demonstrating leadership.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of materials used in biotech or pharmaceutical production, including raw materials, consumables, and packaging materials.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and manage initiatives end to end.

• Proficiency with SAP and S2P ERP systems.
