TL;DR
Lead Procurement Analyst, Category Management (Clinical Research) (Strategic Sourcing/Clinical Research): Managing end-to-end sourcing and supplier relationships for clinical research services with an accent on compliance, cost optimization, and delivery execution. Focus on leading RFIs/RFQs/RFPs, negotiating contracts and pricing, analyzing supplier spend and risk, and improving source-to-pay processes.

Location: Hybrid role based in the Durham, North Carolina office, requiring at least three days per week onsite; in-office requirements may increase based on business needs.

What you will do

  • Execute strategic sourcing and end-to-end source-to-pay processes for clinical research goods and services.
  • Partner with Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and deliver best value.
  • Lead RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, supplier qualification, supplier analysis, total cost analysis, negotiations, and supplier selection.
  • Manage supplier performance, delivery, quality, cost, quarterly business reviews, and supply-base optimization.
  • Analyze spend and material usage to identify savings, improve service and schedule adherence, and mitigate supplier risks.
  • Ensure procurement activities, CAPEX, service contracts, MSAs, and corporate contracts meet business, compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or business, plus 8+ years of procurement and sourcing experience; alternatively, a master’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing best practices, source-to-pay and ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and GxP.
  • Proven RFQ experience in a cross-functional environment and experience managing multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, customer service, negotiation, problem-solving, and independent working skills.
  • Track record of delivering tangible results in a complex, decentralized global environment.
  • Ability to work from the Durham office at least three days per week.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in life sciences or business.
  • NAPM (A.P.P. C.P.M.) or APICS (CPIM, CIRM) certification.
