Director, Software Development & Engineering (PL) - Brokerage Customer & Account Technology (AI)

Location: On site in Southlake, Texas or Austin, Texas, United States

Salary: USD $240,000–$290,000 per year, plus bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Lead the transformation of the Client Data Platform and shared broker-dealer technology capabilities.
• Define the technology vision, architecture, operating model, and roadmap for modernizing critical platforms.
• Establish and operationalize an AI-first engineering model using generative and agentic AI across the software development lifecycle.
• Drive legacy-system exit strategies, including system decomposition, data migration, technical-debt reduction, and platform decommissioning.
• Lead globally distributed engineering teams and manage technology vendor relationships.
• Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver multi-year transformation outcomes while addressing regulatory and organizational complexity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience managing broker-dealer systems, with a focus on system transformation.
• Deep knowledge of broker-dealer capabilities, operations, and technology-related regulatory considerations.
• Experience leading large-scale technology transformations from strategy through implementation.
• Broad expertise across application development, cloud development, web services, middleware, operating systems, databases, networking, security, and IT infrastructure.
• Experience leading AI-first delivery, building globally distributed engineering teams, and influencing senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing mainframe-centered or legacy engineering environments into distributed technology platforms.
• Experience using AI to understand, reverse engineer, modernize, or retire complex legacy systems.
• Experience improving engineering velocity, quality, cost, resiliency, and operational risk through measurable outcomes.
• Experience selecting and managing IT service providers and third-party technology vendors.
• Experience mentoring technical and managerial talent and building cultures of automation, transparency, adaptability, continuous learning, and accountability.
