Director, Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in the Raleigh, NC office, Morrisville, North Carolina, United States

Salary: USD 227,800–338,800 per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package

What you will do

• Define strategic direction for software development and architecture across multiple teams and product lines.
• Lead and scale engineering teams while aligning delivery with business objectives and technical standards.
• Drive the end-to-end Agile software development lifecycle from feature definition through production support.
• Direct the planning, execution, and delivery of parallel projects and ONTAP software solutions.
• Optimize development processes, operational metrics, reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud-native services.
• Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, collaborate with senior leadership, and recruit high-performing talent.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software development experience, including large-scale distributed systems.
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams and technical leaders.
• Experience delivering scalable, highly available, low-latency cloud services and working with distributed storage systems.
• Strong understanding of performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with data processing, analytics, AI/ML systems, agentic engineering, and CI/CD infrastructure for large-scale deployments.
• Strong business acumen and communication skills for influencing strategy and presenting complex technical concepts.

Nice to have

• Expertise in knowledge graphs, semantics, and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with distributed database systems.
• Experience training and deploying AI models.
