Director, Application Development Chapter Lead (Insurance)

Location: Toronto, ON — Toronto-81 Bay, 25th Floor. The proportion of on-site and remote work will be discussed during the interview.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop software engineers across varying experience levels.
• Provide technical leadership across application design, coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, deployment, and support.
• Champion CI/CD, automated testing, observability, DevSecOps, and continuous engineering improvement.
• Guide responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools, automation, and analytics.
• Translate strategic direction into engineering priorities and support change across teams.
• Partner with product, architecture, security, infrastructure, business stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver complex technology solutions.

Requirements

• Experience in application development, software engineering leadership, agile or product-oriented delivery, and the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with modern engineering tools and cloud or platform environments.
• Approximately 3–5 years of experience developing and implementing strategic team goals.
• Experience coaching employees and driving successful team performance.
• Ability to lead delivery, manage stakeholders, communicate risks and dependencies, and oversee team capacity and vendor outcomes.
• Legal eligibility to work at the specified location is required; a valid work or study permit may be required where applicable.
