TL;DR

Location: Emeryville, California, USA; candidates must be within commuting distance or willing to relocate. Onsite laboratory work is required.

Compensation: USD 23–27 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

  • Prepare and analyze bulk and air environmental samples for asbestos using transmission electron microscopy.
  • Enter, validate, review, and report analytical data in the LIMS.
  • Perform reference material, proficiency, quality control, and confirmation analyses.
  • Coordinate sample workloads, rush projects, due dates, hold times, and sample transfers.
  • Support QA processes, laboratory accreditations, training documentation, equipment maintenance, and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support, train new analysts, and assist other laboratory departments when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience performing asbestos microscopy.
  • Undergraduate degree in Geology, Biology, or a related science, or completion of a TEM asbestos training course.
  • Knowledge of routine and complex asbestos analyses and applicable EPA, NVLAP, ELAP, OSHA, and NIOSH standards.
  • Experience with a transmission electron microscope is preferred.
  • Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
