Location: Emeryville, CA, USA; onsite laboratory position. Candidates must live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate.

Salary: USD 23–27 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

The Built Environment Testing division delivers industrial hygiene and indoor air quality testing, including asbestos, mold, bacteria, VOCs, lead, silica, and related analyses.

What you will do

  • Prepare and analyze environmental bulk and air samples for asbestos using transmission electron microscopy.
  • Enter, validate, review, and report analytical data through the LIMS.
  • Perform reference material, proficiency, quality control, confirmation, and other QA-related testing.
  • Coordinate sample workloads, rush projects, due dates, and hold times to ensure timely delivery.
  • Support laboratory accreditations, QA documentation, corrective actions, equipment maintenance, and servicing.
  • Provide technical support, train new asbestos analysts, and assist other laboratory departments when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience performing asbestos microscopy.
  • Undergraduate degree in Geology, Biology, or a related science, or completion of a TEM Asbestos training course.
  • Knowledge of routine and complex asbestos analyses and laboratory testing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of EPA, NVLAP, ELAP, OSHA, and NIOSH asbestos standards.
  • Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
