Human Resources Business Partner

Location: Los Angeles, California, USA; frequent travel to KIPP SoCal schools is required.

Salary: $76,472–$110,885 annually; new hires are typically placed between the range minimum and midpoint of $93,679.

KIPP SoCal Public Schools operates a network of 20 college-preparatory public charter schools serving students and alumni in the greater Los Angeles area and San Diego.

What you will do

• Coach school leaders on performance gaps, accountability, high-stakes conversations, and documented support plans.
• Train leaders to apply the Just Culture Rubric when addressing human error, at-risk behavior, and reckless behavior.
• Maintain an on-the-ground presence in schools, diagnose root causes affecting adult culture, and advise school leaders on systemic improvements.
• Design and evaluate cultural interventions using employee-relations metrics and qualitative data.
• Manage complex investigations and employee-relations incidents, targeting closure within 5–10 school days.
• Oversee workers’ compensation administration, OSHA reporting, reasonable accommodation requests, and ethical AI integration into Talent & Equity workflows.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of relevant HR or Organizational Development experience.
• Experience as an HR Partner in a fast-paced, multi-site organization with 500+ FTEs.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and workers’ compensation laws.
• Strong coaching, influence, systems-thinking, data-analysis, and organizational-diagnostics skills.
• Ability to travel frequently to KIPP SoCal schools.
• Valid California Driver’s License required.
