Engineering Manager, Infrastructure (AI)

Location: Hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in office, primarily in the New York City or Boston metro areas. Applicants in the Research Triangle or San Francisco Bay Area may also be considered. Applicants must reside in these locations or be willing to relocate.

Total compensation range: $185,500–$232,000 per year, plus equity, benefits, and perks.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop infrastructure and site reliability engineers.
• Set the infrastructure and SRE technical direction, roadmap, operating practices, and paved paths across reliability, security, cost, and developer experience.
• Guide the delivery of secure, observable, and reliable containerized applications, internal tools, ML pipelines, and AI model training workloads.
• Oversee compute, load balancers, databases, secrets management, and infrastructure across multiple cloud providers and development, staging, and production environments.
• Maintain a high bar for infrastructure as code, container images, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Own support rotation coverage, incident retrospectives, budgeting, resourcing, and reporting for infrastructure initiatives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of combined hands-on infrastructure/SRE and people-management experience, including 3+ years managing Site Reliability, Infrastructure, or DevOps engineers.
• Experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineers while setting clear expectations and providing actionable feedback.
• Strong operational judgment in diagnostics, incident response, root cause analysis, automation, and reliability engineering.
• Experience defining operational practices for AI-assisted and agent-authored software delivery, including access, guardrails, CI/CD, diagnostics, and incident response.
• Working knowledge of AWS and Snowflake, plus Docker, GitHub, Kubernetes, Python, Terraform or OpenTofu, and virtual networking.
• Experience coordinating technical projects and programs, including budgeting, estimation, tracking, and reporting.

• Experience with Azure, GCP, or Vercel.
• Digital forensics experience.
• Experience managing shared COTS and FOSS applications in a multi-tenant environment.
• Experience supporting regulated or validated workloads.
• Pharmaceutical or biotech experience.
