TL;DR
Design System Lead - Product & Engineering (Fintech) (React, Figma, Kotlin): Own and evolve a shared design system across web, mobile, and POS products with an accent on token architecture, component governance, accessibility, and design-to-code alignment. Focus on migrating legacy interfaces, building AI-assisted workflows, and coordinating design system implementation with Product and Engineering.
Location: Onsite at Shift4 offices in Tampa, FL (preferred), Atlanta, GA, or Center Valley, PA. Relocation assistance may be available.

What you will do
- Assess existing design systems, identify duplication and gaps, and establish a roadmap for unification, migration, and governance.
- Own and consolidate design system foundations across web, mobile, and POS products.
- Define scalable token architecture, component libraries, theming, accessibility standards, and cross-platform patterns.
- Lead legacy interface migration and connect Figma, design system code, and production workflows.
- Partner with engineers and Product leads to improve adoption, consistency, and production implementation.
- Develop AI-assisted workflows for audits, component mapping, documentation, migration, and design-to-code processes.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Product Design, Design Systems, or UX Engineering.
- Proven experience building, evolving, and implementing production-ready design systems at scale.
- Expertise in token architecture, theming, component variants, accessibility, governance, and cross-platform systems.
- Strong Figma skills and understanding of design-to-code workflows.
- Hands-on experience with React, ShadCN, Tailwind CSS, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Material 3.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools and collaborating directly with engineers on production design system components.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, commerce, POS, or SaaS environments.
- Experience migrating legacy design systems or products to a unified system.
- Experience with Storybook, Style Dictionary, or other token pipeline tools.
- Experience prototyping AI-assisted user experiences or working with payment terminal UI constraints.
