Lead Designer - Design Systems

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; full-time, in-office five days per week.

Annual base salary: $200,000–$250,000 USD, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with the CMO, CEO, and design leadership to integrate brand values and vision into the design system.
• Translate brand concepts into scalable elements such as color systems, typography, motion, iconography, and interaction models.
• Develop and maintain design tokens, Figma libraries, documentation, and governance frameworks across products and platforms.
• Connect brand, product, design, and engineering teams to support consistent, usable, accessible, and performant experiences.
• Lead design system adoption, process improvement, feedback cycles, and continuous refinement.
• Communicate design strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders and mentor junior designers.

Requirements

• Extensive senior-level experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable design systems with brand integration.
• Deep knowledge of design theory, systems thinking, brand expression, usability, and accessibility.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects from inception through execution.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring and guiding junior designers.
