Senior Scientist, Product Development – Life Science & Biotech Reagents

Location: Piscataway, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $125,000–$155,000 per year, based on experience.

What you will do

• Define long-term product portfolio strategies across antibodies, recombinant proteins, enzymes, bioassays, protein purification products, Cell & Gene Therapy reagents, and emerging technology platforms.
• Identify technology white spaces, unmet customer needs, and opportunities for differentiated, high-barrier products.
• Build and maintain product roadmaps aligned with business growth objectives.
• Analyze customer workflows, Jobs-to-be-Done, Voice of the Customer, research trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape.
• Evaluate scientific feasibility, customer value, market potential, competitive differentiation, intellectual property, and business economics.
• Partner with R&D, Marketing, Business Development, Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, QA/RA, and executive leadership to shape product development programs and investment decisions.

Requirements

• PhD preferred, or a Master’s degree with exceptional industry experience, in biology, cell biology, immunology, protein engineering, antibody engineering, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related life science discipline.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: protein engineering, antibody discovery and optimization, Cell & Gene Therapy reagent development, functional proteins and bioassays, or advanced protein purification technologies.
• Experience in Early Discovery, Platform Development, or CMC within biopharma or a top-tier CRO is highly desirable.
• Strong strategic thinking, systems thinking, scientific curiosity, innovation management, customer-centric analysis, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Ability to communicate strategic recommendations and business cases to executives and lead cross-functional collaboration.

• Direct experience interacting with biopharma customers.
