Sr. Staff Product Manager (Genomics)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; full-time onsite role

Base salary: $155,600–$233,400 per year, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity programs.

What you will do

• Lead product strategy, business-case framing, customer and market analysis, requirements definition, and decision support for a complex multi-year high-throughput sequencing platform program.
• Translate customer workflows, application requirements, competitive trends, and ecosystem dynamics into product and design decisions.
• Engage genome centers, clinical labs, research institutes, and service providers to represent the customer perspective.
• Partner with R&D to create clear, testable product requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate chemistry, hardware, software, operations, finance, marketing, and commercial stakeholders to maintain alignment and launch readiness.
• Develop executive decision materials, roadmap recommendations, sales tools, positioning guidance, and customer-facing content.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of related experience with a bachelor's or master's degree, or a PhD with 8 years of experience, or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of NGS platforms, workflows, and high-throughput sequencing applications.
• Ability to integrate customer insights, technical constraints, and business drivers into product strategy and requirements.
• Experience working cross-functionally with R&D, operations, finance, commercial, and other matrixed teams.
• Strong analytical, business-case modeling, communication, and executive presentation skills.
• Understanding of workflow integration, automation, informatics, sample logistics, and their impact on customer adoption.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting or launching products in clinical genomics, high-throughput research, or sequencing operations.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.
