Legal Counsel (AI/Privacy)

Location: Must be based in San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: minimum 3x in office per week)

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 base salary + performance bonus + equity

What you will do

• Develop and maintain global data privacy, AI governance, and compliance policies aligned with regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and the EU AI Act.
• Partner with Security, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure privacy-by-design and compliance-by-default in all AI systems.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data protection agreements (DPAs) and compliance clauses with customers and vendors.
• Lead incident response legal coordination, including investigations and breach notifications.
• Advise executives on emerging regulatory risks and legal strategies for AI and data operations.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Law (J.D. or LL.M.).
• At least 5 years of experience working in global SaaS or AI companies.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid model in San Francisco (minimum 3 days per week in office).
• Strong communication skills with empathy and a proactive approach to driving outcomes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across time zones.
