Commercial Counsel (AI)

Location: Hybrid, based out of the New York City office two days per week

Salary: $190,000–$225,000 annually for candidates in the U.S.

What you will do

• Serve as the dedicated legal partner to the enterprise sales organization.
• Own the commercial contracting lifecycle from initiation through execution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate MSAs, DPAs, BAAs, and other commercial agreements.
• Negotiate privacy and data protection terms under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and related regulations.
• Advise on AI contract issues involving model training, intellectual property ownership, and AI data governance.
• Balance legal risk and deal velocity while protecting the business and minimizing unnecessary redlines.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the New York bar.
• 3–5 years of hands-on technology commercial contracting experience at a top-tier technology law firm or high-growth AI or SaaS startup.
• Deep expertise drafting and negotiating MSAs, DPAs, BAAs, and other commercial agreements with sophisticated enterprise counterparties.
• Strong working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and global data privacy laws.
• Current understanding of AI commercial considerations, including intellectual property protection, training rights, and regulatory trends.
• Ability to manage high contract volume independently with minimal supervision.
