Construction Manager (Substation Construction)

Location: Assigned geographic area with regular on-site work at substation facilities, rights-of-way, and remote job sites with uneven terrain. Emergency restoration assignments and extended hours may be required.

What you will do

• Represent the client in contractor activities, field construction management, and inspection of complex substation projects.
• Oversee contractor construction and maintenance activities in accordance with project documents, engineering practices, laws, and industry standards.
• Monitor safety, environmental compliance, schedule, design, materials, budget, and commissioning plans, escalating deviations to the project team.
• Review design and construction documents for constructability and schedule adherence, and coordinate material deliveries.
• Lead or participate in project meetings, conduct site briefings, and prepare safety and project status reports.
• Coordinate commissioning, contractor evaluations, project reconciliation, closeout activities, and substation escorts for non-qualified personnel.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience in substation electrical or utility construction, including at least 3 years managing and supervising construction crews.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, codes, construction standards, and construction methods.
• Experience managing unionized construction staff and knowledge of energy delivery power systems.
• Ability to learn and use available information technologies, solve complex construction problems, and conduct incident investigations.
• Ability to work emergency restoration assignments and enter remote rights-of-way and other job sites.
