Manufacturing Engineer I, Mechanical Assembly Second Shift (Aerospace) (Mechanical Assembly/Manufacturing): Building and scaling repeatable manufacturing processes for Terran R vehicle subassemblies with an accent on build readiness, product quality, and manufacturability. Focus on developing work instructions and test procedures, resolving hardware issues on the production floor, and coordinating tooling, supply chain, design, and test readiness.
Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Onsite second-shift position starting at 3:00 PM PT.
Salary: $90,000–$136,000 USD annually.

What you will do
- Own vehicle subassembly hardware from design release through build, testing, and delivery.
- Develop and release build flows, work instructions, test procedures, and production documentation.
- Support first-article builds and create scalable processes for higher production rates.
- Provide hands-on floor support, resolve non-conformances, incorporate technician feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate design, supply chain, production, and test teams on part readiness, tooling, schedules, and handoffs.
- Contribute to manufacturing infrastructure, tooling strategies, and ERP/MES workflows.
Requirements
- Engineering or related technical degree and at least one year of hands-on experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing or integration environment.
- Experience investigating hardware issues, resolving non-conformances, and conducting root cause analysis with corrective actions.
- Familiarity with assembly and testing, including tolerance stack-up analysis, structural proof testing, and pressurized leak checks.
- Ability to collaborate across design, manufacturing, supply chain, and test teams.
- Proficiency in GD&T, CAD, and basic design or test analysis.
- Experience with at least two of LOX cleanliness, leak checking, sensor checkouts, tube bending, tool design, crane operations, or subassembly builds.
Nice to have
- Aerospace product introduction or experience transitioning hardware from prototype to production.
- Experience authoring and executing test procedures or serving as a test conductor.
- Familiarity with hazardous operations, fluid system safety, or pressurized testing.
- Experience in lean environments, vendor engagement, tool development, or leading small build or test efforts.
