TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer III (Aerospace) (advanced composite manufacturing): Supporting production, new program introduction, tooling and manufacturing planning, and continuous improvement for aerospace composite products with an accent on drawing interpretation, process development, and product manufacturability. Focus on leading root cause analysis, implementing measurement plans, calculating improvement ROI, and coordinating technical work across production, design, customers, and suppliers.

Location: Onsite in Kent, Washington, USA. Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, permanent resident, qualifying temporary resident, refugee, or asylee.

Salary: $77,968–$130,228 annual salary.

What you will do

  • Provide production support for new program introduction, process development, ramp-up, and shop-floor problem resolution.
  • Interpret customer and internal drawings, specifications, processes, and procedures; manage BOM changes and author first articles.
  • Create and update manufacturing and tooling plans with illustrations, coordinating plans with design and production teams.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, calculate ROI, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans and measurement plans.
  • Support capital projects, program feasibility assessments, quoting, design for manufacture, and value engineering.
  • Present technical information to management, customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and technical groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, materials science, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of applicable aerospace industry experience is preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least two process areas or program families.
  • Six Sigma experience and certification are strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and required CAD skills.
  • Ability to define problems, interpret technical instructions, collect and analyze data, draw valid conclusions, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
