Product Engineer (Aerospace Manufacturing): Developing aerospace products and transitioning new designs into production with an accent on design for manufacturability, tooling, documentation, and manufacturing cell planning. Focus on solving process failures, developing automated test fixtures and assembly tools, implementing Lean improvements, and managing technical and schedule milestones across the production life cycle.

Location: Moorpark, California, United States

Salary: $95,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

  • Lead the technical and schedule aspects of internal and external products throughout the production life cycle.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability and transition new products from development into production.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing instructions, routings, process specifications, tooling documentation, and product testing methods.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems and process failures, then implement corrective actions and technical risk controls.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, quality, customers, operators, inspectors, and supervisors to ensure production viability and approvals.
  • Develop automated test fixtures, assembly tools, manufacturing cell layouts, PFMEAs, and Lean manufacturing improvements.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
  • At least 2 years of engineering experience in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience with multi-part mechanisms and mechanical assemblies, CAD, 3D modeling, assembly creation, drawings, and GD&T.
  • Experience designing tooling and fixtures and applying Design for Manufacturing methods.
  • Strong problem-analysis, project-management, interpersonal, and leadership skills, including the ability to lead programs or projects.
  • Knowledge of aerospace products and processes, space vehicle mechanisms and systems, Lean manufacturing, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office tools.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace products and processes.
  • Knowledge of space vehicle mechanisms and systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project.
