Intern Substation Engineering - Electrical

Location: Merrillville, Indiana; candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location.

Salary: $18.80–$31.70 per hour

What you will do

• Assist engineering staff with projects supporting utility facility needs.
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and help manage electric facility projects of varying complexity.
• Collect and analyze data, review records, and perform field measurements.
• Create job order sketches using AutoCAD.
• Assemble data to prepare job order estimates.
• Follow safety requirements and support emergency response activities when needed.

Requirements

• Current student in an ABET-accredited, four-year Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or similar bachelor's program.
• At least one year of undergraduate study completed and entering junior or senior year in fall 2027.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week during the 12-week summer 2027 internship starting in May 2027.
• Proficiency with PC applications; strong AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Access skills are preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication, flexibility, reliable transportation, and a valid driver's license.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
