Substation Design Engineer 3

Location: Hybrid role based at the SCE facility in Pomona, California; employees are generally required to work and reside in California. Up to 10% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory.

Salary: $129,200–$193,700 per year

What you will do

• Conduct QA reviews of electrical substation designs up to 500kV and resolve complex technical issues.
• Lead and coordinate full-time and contract employees on technical strategies, equipment, and standards.
• Perform life-cycle and risk assessments, improve preventive maintenance procedures, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain facility design basis documentation and coordinate high-impact engineering studies and projects.
• Support audits, inspections, environmental, health, and safety compliance, operational readiness, and technical training for junior engineers.
• Use engineering tools such as AutoCAD and protect company assets, sensitive data, and cybersecurity resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematics field.
• Five or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C driver's license.
• Successful candidates must complete a NERC/CIP Personnel Risk Assessment or Background Investigation before hire and specified training before receiving unescorted access to assigned work locations.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of substation engineering and design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• General knowledge of guides, standards, codes, and methods for complex assignments.
