Senior Plant Designer (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Penrose, Colorado, with an expected move to Pueblo, Colorado within the next year. Fully onsite for the first three months, followed by a hybrid schedule of up to two remote days per week.

Base salary: $90,000–$125,000 USD annually, excluding benefits and bonus.

What you will do

• Develop equipment arrangements and floor plans supporting material and personnel flow, maintenance access, and code compliance.
• Route process piping and utility distribution for water, steam, chilled glycol, compressed air, and similar plant services.
• Develop and maintain controlled P&ID sets, equipment lists, line lists, drafting standards, and revision control.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, electrical, engineering, construction, operations, and vendor teams to produce coherent plant drawings.
• Support construction and commissioning through field walkdowns, redline capture, and as-built drawing issuance.
• Maintain accurate drawings for process hazard analyses, pre-startup safety reviews, and management of change.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in industrial process plant design.
• Experience developing equipment layouts, pipe routing, P&IDs, equipment lists, drawings, and piping material specifications.
• Independent experience producing and revising P&IDs for industrial facilities.
• Experience designing utility distribution layouts for steam, water, compressed air, or similar utilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or an equivalent 2D drafting platform, including document and revision control.
• Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR requirements and eligible to obtain required export authorizations; must be eligible for explosives licensing, pass drug, health, and background screening, and be at least 21 years old.

Nice to have

• Experience taking a greenfield facility through design, construction, startup, and as-built documentation.
• Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, or OpenPlant.
