Mechanical Piping Designer

Location: On-site in Richardson, Texas, USA

Base salary: $80,000–$100,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Develop 2D and 3D engineering and design packages for piping, mechanical equipment arrangements, and material handling systems.
• Produce 3D models and construction documents for mechanical and piping systems.
• Communicate design recommendations to project teams, contractors, vendors, and clients through meetings, presentations, email, and phone.
• Coordinate work with designers, engineers, and project managers while participating in quality reviews.
• Ensure designs comply with safety, quality, applicable standards, codes, specifications, and project requirements.
• Manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, resolve design challenges, and maintain accurate project deliverables.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in technical drawing or a related field, or at least 4 years of related trade experience.
• Familiarity with mechanical engineering industry standards of practice.
• Ability to efficiently produce project 3D models and construction documents for mechanical and piping systems.
• Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications.
• Experience with Autodesk products, including AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and Revit.
• Experience with BIM360, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
• Ability to read and understand orthographic drawings and create 2D orthographic drawings from models.
• Ability to create 3D models from point-cloud scans using Faro software.
• Ability to interpret and ensure conformance with applicable standards, codes, company policies, and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.

Nice to have

• Autodesk Plant P&ID experience.
