Senior Plumbing / Process Engineer

Location: Elmira, New York, United States; Workplace: On-site

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the planning, analysis, and design of plumbing, process piping, and industrial utility systems for new construction, renovations, expansions, and facility upgrades.
• Perform field investigations, system analysis, engineering calculations, equipment selection, and preparation of design reports and construction documents.
• Develop process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, utility flow diagrams, layouts, riser diagrams, specifications, and equipment schedules.
• Coordinate utility requirements and interface points with clients, equipment manufacturers, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Provide technical leadership, quality-control reviews, project coordination, mentoring, and support for client and business development activities.
• Support bidding and construction administration through contractor responses, submittal reviews, site observations, field reports, and change proposal reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant plumbing, process piping, industrial utility, or facility engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing plumbing, process piping, industrial utility, or specialty piping systems.
• Working knowledge of plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, fire, and industrial piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, NFPA standards, and applicable state and local codes.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, construction documents, and coordinating with clients, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability and willingness to perform field investigations in existing commercial, institutional, manufacturing, and industrial facilities.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license, including a New York license or the ability to obtain one through comity.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, hydraulic calculation software, or process piping design software.
• Experience leading project teams, mentoring junior engineers, and working with manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, advanced manufacturing, laboratory, or healthcare facilities.
