Professional Engineer, Mechanical - Commercial & Industrial HVAC

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home, based in Bloomington, Minnesota; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; or Downers Grove, Illinois. U.S. work authorization is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $91,000–$120,300 per year in Bloomington; $93,000–$123,300 in Milwaukee; $95,500–$126,300 in Downers Grove.

What you will do

• Model and design HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems for commercial and industrial facilities.
• Perform energy modeling, life-cycle cost analysis, heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing.
• Prepare mechanical plans, specifications, design details, studies, reports, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with architecture, civil, electrical, and structural disciplines.
• Support proposals, mechanical fee estimates, client presentations, project development, and code official meetings.
• Perform construction administration, inspections, facility assessments, and site visits; opportunities may include project management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least five years of progressive mechanical systems design experience for commercial and/or industrial facilities.
• Professional Engineer registration in at least one state, with the ability to obtain additional registrations through reciprocity.
• Experience with HVAC energy modeling, facility load calculations, ductwork or piping sizing, and analysis of system components.
• Experience preparing technical specifications, construction cost estimates, design drawings, and responding to requests for proposals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, multidisciplinary coordination experience, and availability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• AutoCAD and Revit MEP experience.
• Experience with Trane Trace 3D or related energy modeling software.
• Fire protection, boiler, chiller, air balance, process flow, and piping/HVAC plan design experience.
• LEED certification.
