Sr. Engineer I, Automation (AI)

Location: Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States; 70/30 in-office work model

Salary: $121,600–$194,500 per year, with potential bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Implement, support, optimize, and manage the lifecycle of process automation systems across new and existing manufacturing facilities.
• Develop and maintain DeltaV DCS, PLC, SCADA, data historian, robotics, VMware, and related automation platforms.
• Integrate automation systems with ODH, MES, VMware, analytics environments, and other enterprise platforms.
• Lead CAPEX projects from concept through commissioning and transition into operations, including FAT, SAT, startup, and system deployment.
• Standardize reusable automation using ISA-95 and ISA-88 principles and contribute to automation design guidelines.
• Provide troubleshooting, on-call, floor, lifecycle, validation, and continuous improvement support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments.
• Strong experience designing and supporting Emerson DeltaV DCS for continuous and batch processes.
• Experience with HART, Ethernet/IP, OPC, classic I/O, Kepware or OPC servers, PLCs, SCADA, robotics, VMware, RESTful APIs, and system integrations.
• Knowledge of smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, ISA-95, ISA-88, cGMP, GAMP, CSV, 21 CFR Part 11, and Annex 11.
